Couples who married in 2011 spent at least 10% more on food and bar service for their wedding receptions than in 2010. A survey by The Wedding Report, an industry group, showed that the average cost of reception food service went from $4,339 in 2010 to $4,772 in 2011, a 10% increase. Bar service spending went from $2,207 to $2,463, a 12% hike. And that was just for food and drinks. Other costs also went up. Spending on reception locations went from $2,672 to $3,228 (21% increase) and reception rentals from $1,385 to $1,708 (23% increase).
