American bridal couples spent less on their weddings in 2011, according to a survey by The Wedding Report, an industry research firm. The tab averaged $25,631 in 2011, down from $26,542 in 2010. That represents an overall decline of 3.4% (or 6% when adjusted for inflation). The biggest spending decreases were for gifts for attendants and parents, wedding bands, rehearsal dinners and engagement announcements. The biggest spending increases were for full-service wedding planners, engagement photography, wedding ceremony locations, reception rentals and reception locations.
