The lost homes of down-on-their-luck celebrities

Terrell Owens

Where: Dallas, Texas

Bought for: $1.95 million in 2008

Lost in a short sale for: $1.6 million

The reason: Unemployment

Owens bought a 20th-floor condo in the luxurious Azure building while he was playing football for the Dallas Cowboys. Now the washed-up wide receiver says he’s friendless and nearly broke. “I’m in Hell,” he recently told GQ. Owens has gone through most of the $80 million he made during his career, thanks to some truly terrible investments and eye-popping expenses, including $44,600 a month in court-ordered child support payments. No wonder his lender was willing to let him dump the 3,559-square-foot, three-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath Dallas condo in a November 2011 short sale. It was a foreclosure waiting to happen. But that's not all. He's still delinquent on a $360,000 loan for an 881-square-foot condo in the same building, and he was also delinquent on a $295,902 loan for on a 2,223-square-foot Dallas townhouse. But the townhouse has been sold, according to a Realtor.com listing.
