Even though many families have switched to SUVs in recent years, minivans still offer superior convenience with their sliding rear doors and easy-to-drive, car-like road manners. The Grand Caravan with the American Value Package is one of the most affordable minivans on the market. Don’t let the name fool you; it’s not really a “package,” but rather a newer trim level with a lower starting price than other Grand Caravan models. You'll do fine with the standard 3.6-liter V-6 and six-speed automatic transmission. But we recommend the optional second-row bucket seats ($1,200) in lieu of the cheapish, standard second-row bench. It also comes with a rear, three-passenger fold-in-floor bench for a total seating capacity of seven. We’ve also added the Uconnect hands-free package ($690), which includes Bluetooth streaming audio, a remote USB port, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, plus SiriusXM satellite radio with a one-year subscription.
