The 7 best commuting cars for 2013
Acura ILX 2.0
Mileage: 24 mpg city/35 highway/28 combined
CR Score: 77
The ILX, Acura's all-new, entry-level luxury sedan shares many structural and mechanical components with the Honda Civic. But the standard 150-horsepower, 2-liter four-cylinder engine you'll find in the ILX is bigger and comes with a five-speed automatic transmission that turns the front wheels. You'll also find the ILX is a little bigger inside and nicer, too. Being an Acura, it comes with more frills that most of our other favorite commuting cars. The power sunroof, dual-zone climate control, remote keyless entry and start are all nice touches. We really like the extra safety of the back-up camera, which is also included in the base price. Other standard equipment includes Bluetooth connectivity, heated outside mirrors and a six-speaker audio system with iPod integration.
