7 great new cars for 2013
Mileage: 25 mpg city/34 highway/28 combined
After nearly a decade of trying, Scion is finally selling a car that should appeal to its original target market. The FR-S is the brand's first car with enough oomph to catch the attention of 20-something males. Mechanically similar to the Subaru BRZ, this is a rear-wheel-drive coupe with superb handling and a 200-horsepower, 2-liter flat-four engine. We've priced it here with the optional six-speed, driver-shiftable automatic transmission because it delivers better fuel economy than the six-speed manual. Standard features include Bluetooth connectivity and an eight-speaker Pioneer audio system with iPod integration. Dealers also stock plenty of accessories for personalizing the FR-S.
