Dodge Dart SXT

Price: $19,890

Mileage: 24 mpg city/34 highway/27 combined

Dodge revived the tried-and-true Dart name for its new entry-level sedan. (Ask your grandpa. He’ll know.) Like the Dakota that slots in between compact and full-size pickups, Dart fills the space between compact and midsize sedans. There is a more affordable SE trim, but we chose the SXT to get full-power accessories and some other goodies the SE just doesn't offer. We like the amount of cabin space Dart offers. It has more interior volume than a Volvo S60. That means it’s a compact well-suited to families. We recommend the standard 160-horsepower, 2-liter four-cylinder engine with the six-speed, driver-shiftable automatic transmission. A 1.4-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder is available as an option. Dodge expects many Dart owners will want to customize their ride, so dealers have shelves of aftermarket accessories designed for it.
