Big deals on the biggest trucks

Some of the biggest discounts of the summer are on full-size pickups.

Thousands of dollars in rebates and 0% financing are available on virtually every truck.

The best offers require that you buy off the dealer's lot. But the incentives are so good it's worth a compromise here and there to take advantage of these deals.

Discounts vary sharply between one region of the country and another, so be sure to check the manufacturers' websites and use your ZIP code to find the best deals in your area. Also check with more than one dealer, because many offer their own incentives in addition to the manufacturer's discount.

Toyota, which ranked fourth in big truck sales in June, is out to improve its numbers this month. Until July 31 it is offering 0% financing for up to 60 months on the full-size Toyota Tundra or up to $3,000 cash back, which varies by area and dealership.

In an effort to preserve its standing as the number one seller of trucks in the U.S., Ford is offering cheap financing and cash back on all of its trucks, from the F-150 to the Sport Trac. Until the end of August buyers can get 0% financing for up to 36 months at most dealers and $2007 cash back.

The Dodge Ram 1500 regular and quad cab trucks come with a whopping $6,000 cash back or 0% financing for 60 months. You can stretch that payment out to 72 months -- that's six years -- at a still-low 4.9%. The mega cab version gives you $5,000 cash back, but it comes with the same great financing.

The all-new Silverado 1500 by Chevrolet offers cash back or 0% financing and boasts of the best highway fuel economy in its class. You can get $1,500 cash back on the regular cab or the extended crew cab models plus $500 in bonus cash or 0% financing for 36 months. In addition to 0% financing you can get financing for 1.9% for 48 months, 2.9% for 60 months and 4.9 % for 72 months.

The new 2007 Sierra, which is a Silverado with a GMC tag on it, offers the same cash back or 0% financing that you get when you buy the Silverado. But you get an additional $500 bonus cash along with the 0% financing.

You can get double cash back -- that's $3,000 -- if you buy a 2007 Sierra Classic regular cab or extended crew cab.

The Classic is the older version of the truck that's being phased out. Still, for $3,000 off you are getting a hardworking truck with a good reputation. Or you can get 0% financing. The MSRP on the Sierra classic starts at $16,740, so with $3,000 off you can drive home a pretty good deal. This offer runs through July 31.
